YESTERDAY – THE SALT FARMS
If you look into the lakes along the Estuary trail you’ll see many different things that look almost like sticks buried into the mud, but they actually served a purpose. They used to lay sticks down in the small dips in the landscape to slow down the water flow to the point the water would dry out due to the sunlight exposure and form salt along the bottom of the dips, they would then harvest this and sell it for quite a bit of money due to salt being hard to come by and very valuable.
